Diaper Stacker
A traditional essential nursery item that neatly holds baby's diaper and hangs in a convenient location using ties or a hanger. Ruffle trim is optional on both styles. Use for cloth or disposable diapers. Note: Although disposable diapers come in self-dispensing plastic bags, all plastic bags are a hazard to babies, pets and small children and should be safely disposed of as soon as possible!
If using cloth diapers, I find it nice to have two diaper stackers in order to keep track of rotating my diapers for even wear. I use the diapers from one diaper stacker until it's empty and while those are in the wash, I use the diapers from the second diaper stacker. The clean diapers then go into the first diaper stacker.
Hanging Pocket Organizer
With clear vinyl pockets, it will always be easy to find the little things such as nail clippers, socks, comb and brush, pins, cotton balls, swabs and more. Hangs with a wooden dowel or decorative rod. If natural fibers are important to you, fabric can be used instead of vinyl.
Wipe Box
Coordinate the nursery with the custom-sizable box for cloth wipes, plastic wipe boxes, tissues, socks and more. Useful as dresser drawer dividers and a gift box, too.
Baby Book
Amusing for baby any time, but especially useful during diaper changes to keep baby still. The book holds 4x6 inch photos that are removable for washing. Or, use your printer to create pictures and simple text.
Suggested Fabrics:
Diaper Stacker, Hanging Pocket Organizer, Wipe Box: medium-weight woven cotton or cotton blends, such as chintz, denim, twill, pollished cotton, and home decorator fabrics. Vinyl for the pockets of the hanging pockets organizer (fabric optional) and medium-weight canvas for lining.
Baby Book: light- to medium-weight woven cotton such as quilt fabrics, gingham, chintz, and polished cotton, and vinyl.
Fabric Required: Yardage is for Pre-shrunk fabric!
Diaper Stacker (all views): 1 yard 58" - 60" wide fabric, or 2 5/8 yard 44" - 45" wide fabric.
Hanging Pocket Organizer: 7/8 yard of fabric and 7/8 yard medium-weight canvas for lining, 1/2 yard medium-weight vinyl for pockets (or contrasting fabric).
Wipe Box: 1/3 yard
Baby Book: 1/4 yard main fabric, 1/4 yard contrast fabric, 1/4 yard medium-weight vinyl.
Notions: Thread.
Diaper Stacker: Piece of cardboard or foam core board 8 3/4" x 13 1/2". Views C & D require a 12" clothes hanger.
Hanging Pocket Organizer: 2 1/2 yards double-fold bias binding 1/2" wide, 2 yards double-fold bias binding 1/4" wide, 1 1/4 yard 1/2" wide single-fold bias tape, 1 wooden dowel 3/8" in diameter and 18 1/2" long (end knobs and wood glue optional) or decorative rod, hardware to fasten to wall.
Wipe Box: 2 2/3 yards decorative ribbon 3/4" to 1" wide, hot glue gun, glue, tracing wheel, pizza cutter or non-serated knife, 5/8" yard fusible web, 10" x 13 1/2" piece of cardboard or a piece the correct size for any customization. More ribbon will be needed for a larger box!
Baby Book: 5 1/2 yards washable decorative ribbon 3/8" to 5/8" wide, or for contract, 2/3 yard per page (8 pages total). 1/4 to 1/2 yard heavy-weight interfacing or thin batting, 1 yard hook and loop tape 1/4" wide or 1/2 yard cut lengthwise into two 1/4" wide strips.
